Overview
- Owners of iPhone 15 Pro and newer models can assign the hardware shortcut to the control labeled Open ChatGPT Voice in Settings under Action Button and Controls.
- A long press opens a spoken session immediately, and the app requests microphone permission on first use.
- Voice interactions now appear alongside text prompts in one chat window with real-time spoken output, on-screen text, and any generated visuals.
- Conversations keep running after you leave the app, with ongoing activity shown in the Dynamic Island until you return to end the session.
- Apple still reserves the Side button for Siri, and ChatGPT cannot perform system actions such as setting alarms or accessing your calendar.
