IPC Reinstates Russia’s Paralympic Committee After Seoul Vote

The decision breaks with the IOC’s continued suspension of Russia’s Olympic body.

Overview

  • IPC members rejected motions for both full and partial suspension of the Russian NPC, with votes of 55–111–11 and 77–91–8 respectively.
  • The General Assembly in Seoul on September 27 restored the Russian committee’s membership.
  • The IOC maintains an indefinite suspension of the Russian Olympic Committee and has moved to allow only neutral athletes for the 2026 Winter Olympics.
  • The IPC said the status of Belarus’s Paralympic committee remains under review.
  • Athlete eligibility and event entries will follow IPC rules and sport federations’ implementation rather than automatic, unrestricted participation.
