Iowa Teen Dies After Sledding Accident with SUV

13-year-old Adam McWherter was struck by an SUV while sledding near his home in Anamosa, Iowa, and died 10 days later from his injuries.
McWherter was racing a friend downhill on his driveway when he went into the street and was unable to stop before colliding with the SUV.
The driver of the SUV, David Thomas, attempted to brake but could not stop in time. His vehicle slid into a ditch after the collision.
McWherter suffered multiple injuries, including a broken clavicle, pelvic bone fracture, spinal fracture, and strained ligament in his neck. He also had bleeding in his skull and lungs.
No charges have been filed against the driver as the investigation continues.
