- Another man involved in the incident, Robert Lee Miller III, was previously sentenced to 30 years in prison for his role in the crash.
- The crash occurred when Jones and Miller, after drinking at a bar, began racing on a four-lane road, reaching speeds of up to 108 mph before Miller's car crossed a median and struck a vehicle carrying Marcos and his aunt, Mayra De Catalan.
- In addition to his prison sentence, Jones has been ordered to pay $150,000 to Marcos' family.
