Iowa, Iowa State athletes charged with betting on sports and tampering with records amid gambling probe

  • Multiple current and former Iowa and Iowa State athletes have been criminally charged with tampering with records related to an investigation into illegal sports gambling.
  • Charges have been filed against seven athletes so far, including Iowa State quarterback Hunter Dekkers and former Iowa basketball player Ahron Ulis.
  • The athletes are accused of disguising their identities and manipulating transactions to conceal sports bets they made before turning 21.
  • Dekkers allegedly placed over 360 bets totaling around $2,800 on sporting events, including 26 Iowa State contests.
  • Ulis allegedly used his brother's identity to place over 1,850 bets totaling over $34,000, including on Iowa games.
