Iowa High School Shooting: Teen Kills One, Wounds Five Before Taking Own Life

A 17-year-old student, Dylan Butler, opened fire at Perry High School in Iowa, killing a sixth grader and wounding five others, including the school's principal.
Butler, who was armed with a shotgun, a handgun, and a rudimentary improvised explosive device, died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
Friends and family of Butler reported that he had been bullied for years, and the bullying had recently escalated when his younger sister also became a target.
Authorities are investigating Butler's social media posts, including a photo posted on TikTok shortly before the shooting with the caption 'now we wait' and accompanied by the song 'Stray Bullet' by the German band KMFDM.
The school will be closed on Friday, with counseling services available for students, faculty, and others in the community.
