Overview
- This week users and tech outlets reproduced a reproducible iOS 27 bug that temporarily stops touch input when a quick swipe opens Notification Center and is immediately followed by a swipe to open Control Center.
- The glitch depends on a small timing window between the two gestures, which explains why most users do not encounter it during normal use.
- When triggered the phone can stop registering swipes and taps, leave Camera and Torch icons visually stuck, and make the power-off slider unresponsive, but the condition appears to be a temporary software freeze rather than permanent damage.
- Affected users should perform a force restart — press Volume Up, press Volume Down, then hold the Side button until the Apple logo appears — to restore normal operation.
- The bug was present in iOS 27 beta builds, persisted into the public iOS 27 release, and has been observed in the iOS 27.2 developer beta, and Apple has not yet issued a public fix.
