iOS 18.4 to Allow Default Navigation App Choice in EU Only

Apple's latest update introduces a long-requested feature for European users, driven by compliance with the EU's Digital Markets Act.

The iOS 18.4 update will let EU users set a default navigation app, such as Google Maps or Waze, instead of Apple Maps.
This feature is being introduced to comply with the EU's Digital Markets Act, which mandates increased user choice on platforms like iOS.
The ability to choose a default navigation app will not be available to users in the United States.
U.S. users will, however, gain the option to set a default translation app, such as Google Translate, with iOS 18.4.
The update, currently in beta, is expected to release to the public in early April 2025.
