• The iOS 18.4 update will let EU users set a default navigation app, such as Google Maps or Waze, instead of Apple Maps.
• This feature is being introduced to comply with the EU's Digital Markets Act, which mandates increased user choice on platforms like iOS.
• The ability to choose a default navigation app will not be available to users in the United States.
• U.S. users will, however, gain the option to set a default translation app, such as Google Translate, with iOS 18.4.
• The update, currently in beta, is expected to release to the public in early April 2025.
