iOS 17.2 Update Brings Translation Feature to iPhone 15 Pro's Action Button
New Action Button on iPhone 15 Pro Can Now Trigger Translate Functionality With Spoken Words Translated to Chosen Language in Realtime, Available Only in iOS 17.2 Beta Release
- The iOS 17.2 beta update introduces a new Translate feature to the iPhone 15 Pro's Action button, supporting real-time translation of spoken words into multiple languages, including English, Chinese, Dutch, French, German, Indonesian, Italian, Spanish, Korean, Japanese, Polish, Portuguese, Russian, Thai, Turkish, Ukrainian, and Vietnamese.
- The Translate feature can be activated by pressing the Action button, which opens the Translate window and translates spoken text based on the user's preferences, set in the Translate app.
- The Action button, initially replacing the mute function on iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max, now features nine other actions including the newly added Translate feature. Other actions include taking a photo, turning on the flashlight or recording a voice memo.
- Alongside single functions, the Action button can also perform multiple actions through the use of iOS Shortcuts, allowing the user to trigger a menu of options instead of just one action.
- Although iOS 17.2 is in beta release, users can access the new translation functionality by opting into the beta program.
