IOC Banishes Governing Body from Olympics, Commits to Keeping Boxing

The International Olympic Committee stripped the International Boxing Association of its recognition due to governance, financial and ethical failures.
Boxing will remain an Olympic sport at the 2024 Paris Games and 2028 Los Angeles Games despite the IOC’s decision.
The IOC will oversee boxing at the Paris Olympics without the involvement of the IBA.
Countries that remain affiliated with the IBA may be ineligible to compete in Olympic boxing.
The IOC is now open to working with the breakaway group World Boxing as an alternative to the IBA.
