IOC Awards 2010 Biathlon Gold to Martin Fourcade After Ustyugov’s Doping Annulment

He may collect the reallocated medal at Milan-Cortina 2026, the IOC said.

Overview

  • The IOC confirmed on Sept. 19, 2025 that Fourcade is the winner of the Vancouver 2010 mass start following the definitive disqualification of Evgeny Ustyugov for doping.
  • CAS upheld in November 2024 the annulment of Ustyugov’s results from January 2010 through the end of the 2013/2014 season based on biological passport anomalies and evidence tied to the Moscow laboratory.
  • Ustyugov was first sanctioned in February 2020 for the steroid oxandrolone, and his stripped results include Vancouver 2010 medals and multiple 2011 World Championship podiums.
  • The IOC also reallocated the Sochi 2014 men’s relay gold to Germany, further revising outcomes linked to Ustyugov’s case.
  • The Biathlon Integrity Unit led the investigation as its first completed case since its 2019 creation, and Fourcade now holds six Olympic titles after the reallocation.
