Overview

  • FBI, the Bureau of Prisons and the DOJ inspector general reportedly hold a copy of the 2019 MCC Manhattan video containing the full 11:59 p.m. to midnight interval.
  • Attorney General Pam Bondi attributed the one-minute gap in the public footage to a nightly system reset of the prison’s decades-old surveillance equipment.
  • Forensic analysts found the released video was not a direct export but a screen capture stitched from two separate clips and slightly accelerated.
  • The DOJ, FBI and Bureau of Prisons have declined to comment on why the public version was edited or to release other nights’ footage.
  • Lawmakers and video experts are pressing for full transparency to resolve lingering doubts over Jeffrey Epstein’s official cause of death.
