Overview

  • On July 29, Mazraani suffered a medical emergency while diving to the “Big Engine Steamer” about 200 miles off Cape Cod and was pulled aboard the D/V Tenacious, where CPR efforts failed to revive him.
  • The U.S. Coast Guard and state and local police have found no evidence of equipment malfunction or diver error as they continue their inquiry.
  • His wife and business partner, Jennifer Sellitti, was on board during the incident and has publicly stated that all indications point to a medical cause.
  • A certified diver since the mid-1990s and president of Atlantic Wreck Salvage, Mazraani led high-profile expeditions to wrecks including U-550, SS Andrea Doria, HMHS Britannic and RMS Lusitania.
  • The New Jersey Office of the Public Defender remembered him as a “cherished member of the legal and diving communities” in its tribute to the late lawyer and maritime pioneer.
