Overview
- LAFD and partner agencies used Class B foam, Thermo-Gel and sand to extinguish the fire and declared it out roughly four hours after flames erupted around 5:35 p.m. on Saturday
- California Highway Patrol issued a SigAlert and closed multiple lanes in Sylmar as crews managed hazardous runoff and debris removal along the southbound 5 Freeway
- Tesla Supply-Chain VP Roshan Thomas said the third-party diesel tractor-trailer caught fire first and confirmed six of the eight Teslas on board were destroyed
- No injuries were reported and the semi-truck driver escaped unharmed despite the intensity of the blaze that consumed the trailer and several electric vehicles
- The Los Angeles Fire Department has not yet determined an official cause and its investigation into the origin of the ignition remains active as of Monday afternoon
