Investigation Continues After Dog the Bounty Hunter’s Step-Grandson Fatally Shot by His Father

Overview

  • The shooting occurred around 8 p.m. on July 19 in the family’s Naples, Florida, apartment when Gregory Zecca accidentally discharged a firearm, fatally wounding his 13-year-old son, Anthony.
  • Deputies arrived at 8:08 p.m. to find the weapon on a kitchen island, administered CPR at the scene, and Anthony was pronounced dead at 10:21 p.m.
  • A police report notes Anthony suffered an entry wound above the sternum with no exit wound and lost a critical amount of blood before first responders reached him.
  • No arrests have been made and investigators confirm that witness interviews, forensic testing, subpoenas and search warrants are underway.
  • Duane “Dog” Chapman and his wife, Francie, released a statement requesting prayers and privacy as they grieve the loss of their beloved grandson.
