Intoxicated Passenger Steals Airport Golf Cart, Damages Moving Walkways

Airport officials are evaluating damaged equipment and security procedures following viral footage of the intoxicated suspect’s destructive ride.

Overview

  • Kevin J. Sinning, 29, of Wyoming, commandeered an unattended golf cart with keys left in the ignition at Buffalo Niagara International Airport on July 28, local officials said.
  • Video shows him driving the cart onto and along moving walkways, shattering glass panels and bending metal components before police intervened.
  • Niagara Frontier Transportation Authority Police Department arrested him just after 1 a.m. and reported no injuries from the incident.
  • Sinning faces multiple charges, including second-degree criminal mischief, criminal possession of stolen property over $3,000, criminal nuisance, disorderly conduct and third-degree grand larceny.
  • In response, airport authorities are assessing repair costs and reviewing protocols for unattended ground equipment to enhance terminal safety.
