Overview

  • Lowrey, 21, admitted dangerous driving, aggravated vehicle taking, failing to provide a specimen, no insurance and driving without a valid licence.
  • The pursuit began on January 11 when officers spotted his erratic driving in West Cumbria and lasted 16 minutes with his speed dipping to about 10 mph.
  • Driving a red Ford Focus courtesy car taken without permission, Lowrey continued after clipping a kerb until a police stinging device punctured his tyres.
  • Judge Nicholas Barker imposed an immediate custodial sentence at Carlisle Crown Court, finding Lowrey heavily intoxicated and determined to evade arrest.
  • The court heard Lowrey had been jailed in February for threatening to kill and that his alcohol-fuelled behaviour was linked to coping with his father’s 2023 prison term.
