International Effort Leads to Arrest in Major Cybercrime Case

A Ukrainian suspect linked to the GandCrab ransomware gang has been extradited to Germany following extensive global investigations.

The suspect, a 44-year-old Ukrainian, was apprehended in Slovakia and is accused of cyber extortion and sabotage.
Investigations revealed that the GandCrab group caused global damages estimated at several hundred million euros.
The group targeted 22 German companies, including medical manufacturers and a theater, demanding ransoms for data decryption.
Authorities have linked over 80 cases in Germany to GandCrab and a successor group, with damages totaling nearly 33 million euros.
International law enforcement, including the FBI and Europol, have identified two Russian nationals as key figures still at large.
