International Drug Syndicate Kingpin Arrested in India

Film producer Jaffer Sadiq, implicated in a Rs 2,000 crore drug smuggling operation, faces charges after a multi-national investigation.

Jaffer Sadiq, a film producer and former DMK functionary, has been arrested for smuggling drugs worth over Rs 2,000 crore.
Sadiq was named the kingpin of the India-Australia-New Zealand drugs trafficking network, having smuggled 3,500 kg of pseudoephedrine.
His arrest followed a four-month manhunt and came after recent seizures of methamphetamine worth Rs 180 crore in Tamil Nadu.
Sadiq has produced several films, with his last one expected to release soon, and was expelled by the DMK last month over his alleged involvement in drug smuggling.
The US's Federal Bureau of Investigation is cooperating with the Indian agency in the drugs probe.
