International Drug Syndicate Kingpin Arrested in India

- Jaffer Sadiq, a film producer and former DMK functionary, has been arrested for smuggling drugs worth over Rs 2,000 crore.
- Sadiq was named the kingpin of the India-Australia-New Zealand drugs trafficking network, having smuggled 3,500 kg of pseudoephedrine.
- His arrest followed a four-month manhunt and came after recent seizures of methamphetamine worth Rs 180 crore in Tamil Nadu.
- Sadiq has produced several films, with his last one expected to release soon, and was expelled by the DMK last month over his alleged involvement in drug smuggling.
- The US's Federal Bureau of Investigation is cooperating with the Indian agency in the drugs probe.
