Overview
- In the Comunitat Valenciana, total recorded crime edged down 0.4% in the first half of 2025, while cybercrime rose 12.9% (22,789 online frauds) and crimes against sexual liberty increased 5.6% (1,259 cases), according to the Delegación del Gobierno.
- Madrid logged 985 cases of injuries and mass brawls in the first half, its highest level in a decade by this measure, prompting the police union CEP to demand more street resources and an expanded UPR unit.
- Tarragona province recorded a 7.6% overall drop in offences to 21,748 cases, even as crimes against sexual liberty jumped 26.3% to 269; cybercrime there fell 12.3% year over year.
- Barcelona’s metropolitan area showed sharp contrasts, with Les Franqueses (−23.2%), Terrassa (−17.2%) and Ripollet (−17.1%) posting large declines, while Vilanova i la Geltrú (+12.4%), Pineda de Mar (+11.3%), Esplugues (+10.3%) and L’Hospitalet (+10.2%) saw increases.
- Vehicle thefts fell 4% nationwide to 15,596 in the first half, with 40% concentrated in Madrid (−7.3%) and Barcelona (+0.4%), but with notable municipal spikes such as Dos Hermanas, Algemesí and Talavera de la Reina, per a LoJack analysis of Interior data.
