Overview

  • At least 30 Gulf of Mexico lease sales are slated through 2040, with two auctions each year through 2039 and one in 2040.
  • Alaska’s Cook Inlet will have six sales through 2032, beginning in March 2026 after no Alaska auctions this year.
  • The first sale, titled Big Beautiful Gulf 1, is scheduled for Dec. 10, 2025, with BOEM to publish a final notice at least 30 days in advance.
  • Interior officials and industry groups frame the plan as supporting jobs, investment and U.S. energy security following the prior leasing slowdown.
  • The program advances President Trump’s branding of the region as the Gulf of America and contrasts with the Biden-era plan that scheduled only three sales for 2024–2029.
