Overview
- A joint announcement on Oct. 29, 2026 presented the Generali Stadium design by Foster+Partners and MANICA and confirmed a 71,500-seat arena to be built on the current San Siro parking site.
- The clubs say the wider redevelopment totals about €2.3 billion with roughly €708 million allocated to stadium construction and includes public space, hotels and commercial areas.
- Generali has agreed a naming-rights deal reported at about €650 million that will fund part of the plan, although UEFA rules mean the venue will be called “Milano Stadium” in international competitions.
- Design features aim to boost atmosphere and reduce local impacts with two continuous bowl rings, 37° steep stands behind the goals, acoustic isolation for nearby homes and sustainability measures such as natural ventilation and solar panels.
- The timeline calls for a 2028 construction start and a first match in the 2031/32 season to serve as a Euro 2032 host, but the project must complete final governmental approvals and detailed implementation planning before work begins.
