Overview
- The rollout begins in the United States, United Kingdom, Canada and Australia, with broader expansion planned for 2026 in Europe and Latin America.
- Teens’ feeds, Stories, search and recommendations will exclude sexual nudity, drug use, graphic violence or gore, risky stunts and strong language.
- Instagram will block teens from following or messaging accounts that regularly share age-inappropriate content and will remove those accounts from recommendations and search.
- The same age bar will apply to Meta’s AI chats and tools, and an optional “Limited Content” mode lets parents further filter posts and disable comments.
- Meta will use age-prediction technology to apply protections even when users claim to be adults, tightening enforcement of the new default.
