Instagram Lets Users Reorder Their Profile Grid

The new Grid Reordering tool gives creators and everyday users control over their profile look by moving posts without changing their original metadata.

Overview

  • Meta began rolling out Grid Reordering to Instagram users on Monday, June 8, and the feature is now appearing for accounts worldwide in the mobile apps.
  • Users reorder posts by long-pressing a post on their profile, choosing the “Reorder grid” option, and dragging posts to new positions in a drag-and-drop interface.
  • Pinned posts and Reels remain fixed at the top of profiles and cannot be moved during reordering, and changes save immediately for profile visitors to see.
  • Reordering only changes display order on the profile; original posting dates, captions, comments, likes, and engagement metrics stay intact.
  • The feature answers a long-running user request that surfaced in code scans in 2022 and after public teases from Instagram leadership, giving creators a way to resurface older work and curate a visual narrative without reposting.
