Overview
- Instagram has officially rolled out its Repost feature worldwide, adding a dedicated tab where users can reshare public posts and Reels while crediting original creators.
- The Friends tab in the Reels section is now live globally, surfacing content friends have posted, liked, commented on or reshared to promote social discovery.
- Instagram Map is available to U.S. users as an opt-in tool that updates a user’s last active location when they open the app and lets them explore public, location-tagged content.
- All features are off by default and offer granular opt-in settings to restrict who sees reposts, map locations or friends activity, with parents able to supervise teen location sharing.
- Meta says these additions mark a strategic shift toward active social engagement and aim to expand creators’ visibility beyond their existing follower base.
