Instagram Introduces Live Location Sharing and Custom Nicknames in DMs

The new features aim to enhance real-time coordination and personalization within private chats, available in select countries.

Instagram's live location sharing allows users to share their real-time location in private DMs for up to one hour, helping with meetups and coordination.
The feature is off by default, cannot be forwarded, and includes a visible indicator to remind users when location sharing is active.
Users can now assign custom nicknames to themselves or others in DMs, visible only within chats, with options to control who can edit them.
Seventeen new sticker packs with over 300 stickers have been added to DMs, along with the ability to favorite and reuse stickers shared by others.
The features are being rolled out gradually and are currently available only in select countries, with no specific list provided by Instagram.
