Instagram Expands Reels Download Feature Globally

Downloaded reels will carry an Instagram watermark and may have their audio stripped if they use licensed music.

Instagram has rolled out the ability for all users worldwide to download public Reels to their devices, a feature previously limited to US mobile users.
Downloaded Reels will carry an Instagram watermark with the account's username, similar to TikTok's video downloading feature.
Reels with licensed music will have their audio stripped in the downloaded version, while those with original tracks will retain their audio.
Users have the ability to prevent their Reels from being downloaded by toggling off the option in the Privacy settings.
Reels posted by Instagram users under 18 with public accounts will have the download option disabled by default, but they can manually enable it.
