Overview
- Instagram rolled out the refreshed Map experience to users in India following its August debut in the United States and Canada.
- Location sharing remains opt in, limited to chosen friends, and can be turned off at any time.
- A persistent banner at the top of the Map now shows whether sharing is on or if device location is disabled.
- An indicator in the Notes tray signals when a user is not sharing, and profile photos no longer appear atop location-tagged posts to avoid implying live location.
- The app now displays reminders when adding location tags along with a preview of how tagged content will appear on the Map.
