Overview
- INSS data as of March 16 show more than 6 million contests filed, about 4.3 million agreements accepted, and nearly R$ 3 billion already returned, with over 750,000 still eligible to join.
- The disputed charges date from March 2020 to March 2025 and were linked to alleged fraud in cooperation agreements exposed by the 2025 Federal Police and CGU operation known as Operação Sem Desconto.
- After a contest is filed, the entity has up to 15 business days to respond, and failure to respond or irregular documentation unlocks agreement acceptance with corrected payment in up to three business days.
- Contests can be filed via the Meu INSS app or website, the Central 135, or at Correios branches, while agreement acceptance is available only through Meu INSS or in person at Correios.
- INSS will initiate contests automatically for beneficiaries aged 80 or older, Indigenous people, and quilombola communities who have not requested refunds, and those with active lawsuits must withdraw them to join the administrative agreement.
