Inspector General Report Details Stamford Standoff, Confirms Suicide and Unidentified Homicide Victim

Investigators are working to identify the second victim discovered inside the house.

Overview

  • The report, released Dec. 9, includes body-camera, armored-vehicle and drone video plus negotiator audio from the Dec. 2 incident.
  • A state marshal serving a foreclosure eviction said Parkington warned “this is not going to end well” after pushing his wife outside.
  • The marshal reported Parkington wore a military-style shirt with a Nazi insignia and a utility belt with items that appeared to be explosives.
  • Police say Parkington fired on two BearCat vehicles, shot down drones, and three officers returned fire before a single gunshot was heard inside.
  • Drone footage showed explosives in the home and Parkington dead of a self-inflicted wound; the bomb squad then found decomposed remains later ruled a homicide, with the victim still unidentified and multiple agencies investigating.
