Jade Damarell was an experienced skydiver with more than 500 jumps to her name.

Overview

  • Coroner Leslie Hamilton concluded the 32-year-old intentionally did not deploy her main or reserve parachutes during an April 27 jump over Shotton Colliery, County Durham.
  • Investigators reported all gear was functional and confirmed the Automatic Activation Device was switched off before the fatal descent from about 15,500ft.
  • Damarell was an experienced parachutist with more than 500 jumps and had completed six jumps safely the day prior.
  • Police recovered her phone showing lock-screen access instructions and notes apologising to family with financial details; post-mortem found blunt trauma with negative toxicology.
  • Her family accepted the conclusion, paid tribute to her life, and urged open discussion of mental health as the skydiving community offered condolences.
