Inquest Rules Roisin Harron Died by Suicide After Overdose

Clinicians said she was in remission at discharge with a route to return to services.

Overview

  • Assistant coroner Victoria Webb recorded a verdict of suicide, following a postmortem finding that cardiac arrest triggered by an overdose caused her death.
  • Roisin Harron, 41, was found at a Travelodge in Crystal Palace on June 17, 2024, after being reported missing.
  • She developed severe postpartum psychosis after giving birth in 2017, was treated at Bethlem Royal Hospital, and received electroconvulsive therapy.
  • Her family told the inquest they believe ECT and psychiatric medications left her with lasting cognitive problems and that discharge removed regular specialist support.
  • South London and Maudsley’s Dr Aneesa Peer told the court Harron was in remission when discharged in April 2023 and could have been fast-tracked back into specialist care within four weeks.
