Inquest Opens into 'Unnatural' Death of Drag Performer The Vivienne

The beloved RuPaul's Drag Race UK star, James Lee Williams, was found dead in January, prompting further investigation following postmortem findings.

James Lee Williams, known as The Vivienne, was found dead at their home in Chorlton-by-Backford, Cheshire, on January 5, 2025, at the age of 32.
A postmortem examination identified the cause of death as 'unnatural,' requiring an inquest, which has been adjourned until June 30.
Police confirmed there were no suspicious circumstances surrounding the death, and Williams was identified by their father, Lee Williams.
The Vivienne gained fame as the winner of the first season of RuPaul's Drag Race UK in 2019 and had a successful career in drag and stage performance, including roles in The Wizard of Oz and Chitty Chitty Bang Bang.
Fans, family, and fellow performers paid tribute during a vigil in Liverpool, where St. George’s Hall was lit green in honor of their role as the Wicked Witch of the West.
