Tamzin Hall, a 17-year-old student from Somerset, died on November 11 after being struck by a vehicle on the M5 motorway.
She had been under arrest and was being transported to a custody suite in a police car, which stopped for reasons yet to be determined.
Tamzin exited the police vehicle, crossed the motorway, and was fatally hit by a car traveling southbound; her injuries were not survivable.
An inquest has been opened, with a pre-inquest review scheduled for November 5, 2025, due to the complexity of the case.
The Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) and Avon and Somerset Police are investigating the incident, including the reasons for the vehicle stop and how Tamzin left the car.
