Overview
- The inquest, which opened Wednesday at Rochdale Coroner's Court, heard Clarissa Street spent about an hour in an A&E corridor after being given an oxygen mask that was not connected.
- Triage nurse Michelle Neale said she gave the disconnected mask, requested an ECG and blood tests, and accepted she should not have done so.
- A paramedic told staff they thought she was overreacting and having a panic attack, and a senior nurse later said she was young so they would keep an eye on her.
- She was moved to higher care and died in the early hours of August 14, 2024 from a pulmonary embolism with a background of fatty liver disease.
- The court heard her 2017 embolism was classed as provoked under national guidance that did not require a haematology referral or long-term blood thinners, though witnesses said more tests in hindsight might have helped.
