Overview

• Tom Grindey was pronounced dead at the scene after his BMW clipped a Renault Clio overtaking on the A34 and left the carriageway into a wooded area.
• Forensic analysis calculated an average 133.5mph over 72 metres moments before impact, with the speedometer frozen near 135mph.
• Dashcam footage showed the BMW on a third run between the Trentham Gardens and Monkey Forest roundabouts and driving at excessive speed.
• Conditions were dry on the 60mph dual carriageway, and investigators found no defects on either vehicle.
