- INPE chief Iván Paredes said a newly registered court ruling adds six years to Montesinos’s time, shifting the expected release from 2026 to 2032.

- Montesinos, 80, has accumulated more than 45 years in convictions, including 25 years for the Barrios Altos massacre and another for forced disappearance and qualified homicide.
- He is held at the maximum-security CEREC facility inside the Base Naval del Callao under an INPE–Navy custody pact extended to January 2026, and INPE has requested another extension.
