Prosecutors are reviewing the cases for possible charges.

Overview

  • Long Beach police say Glenn Cox, 39, confessed to multiple murders and an attempted murder to Avenal State Prison staff in December 2023, prompting a renewed investigation.
  • Detectives booked Cox on Oct. 17 on suspicion of three counts of murder, three counts of attempted murder, and two counts of being a felon in possession of a firearm.
  • Investigators linked him to a Dec. 20, 2004 shooting on East Pleasant Street that killed Carlos Serrano, 22, and Jermy Kershaw, 23, and wounded two others.
  • Cox is also tied to the Feb. 16, 2007 fatal shooting of 31-year-old Dino Marks on Cherry Avenue and to an Aug. 26, 2007 shooting that injured a bicyclist on East Pacific Coast Highway.
  • Police say the incidents may have been gang-related, and Cox remains incarcerated at Avenal State Prison as detectives’ cases are considered by the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office.
