Overview
- Sheriff’s officials said the shooting happened just before 1 p.m. on Oct. 22 at Banner University Medical Center South in Tucson.
- The corrections officer assigned to the inmate fired her department-issued firearm after a fight broke out in the hospital room.
- Lifesaving measures were attempted but the inmate died; no hospital staff or other patients were injured and operations resumed normally.
- The Pima Critical Incident Team was activated with the Oro Valley Police Department leading the investigation, and identities have not been released.
