Injury-Hit Mavericks Host Pelicans as Zion Williamson Misses Time With Hamstring Strain

Key absences redefine lineups as New Orleans arrives on a back-to-back after its first win.

Overview

  • The Pelicans said Williamson will be sidelined at least seven to 10 days with a left hamstring strain after averaging team highs in points, rebounds and assists.
  • Dallas will be without Anthony Davis (left calf), Kyrie Irving (left knee surgery), Dereck Lively II (right knee sprain) and Dante Exum (right knee management).
  • New Orleans improved to 1–6 with a 116–112 win over Charlotte on Tuesday, getting 62 bench points led by Trey Murphy III (21) and Jose Alvarado (18), with rookie Derik Queen stuffing the stat sheet.
  • The Mavericks fell to 2–5 with a 110–102 loss in Houston, were outrebounded 54–40, and coach Jason Kidd called for a committee approach on the glass.
  • Dallas has limited opponent three-point attempts this season, and with Williamson out, New Orleans’ offense is expected to lean on Jordan Poole, who is averaging 18.3 points.
