• ING customers in Germany can now send and request money with Wero directly in the app, free of charge and typically delivered in under ten seconds.
• Activation is fully digital within the ING app and takes only minutes, enabling transfers by phone number or email without entering an IBAN.
• Wero currently supports peer-to-peer payments only, with shared accounts and options for online and in‑store checkout slated to follow.
• The service works across Germany, France and Belgium, while a Verivox survey finds about 30% awareness in Germany, roughly 10% registered and about 4% having used it.
• Participation spans major German banks and partners including the Sparkassen, Volks- und Raiffeisenbanken, Deutsche Bank group, BBBank, BW-Bank, Sparda, PSD Bank and Revolut, with some offering a €5 activation bonus through September 14, 2025.
