Infosys Concludes Fourth Round of Trainee Layoffs at Mysuru Campus

Nearly 800 apprenticeship trainees have been terminated since February due to repeated performance assessment failures, with support programs offered to affected individuals.

According to the company, these upskilling courses are designed to prepare those affected trainees for “potential roles in the BPM industry” or to continue “honing their IT skills.”

Infosys layoffs: 195 more trainees fired at Infosys Mysuru campus

Overview

  • Infosys dismissed 195 trainees on April 29, marking the fourth and latest round of layoffs at its Mysuru campus since February 2025.
  • The layoffs, totaling almost 800, were attributed to repeated failures in the Generic Foundation Training Program assessments, despite supplemental coaching and multiple attempts.
  • The Karnataka Labour Department ruled that apprenticeship trainees are not covered under standard labour laws, exempting Infosys from legal challenges related to these terminations.
  • Infosys is offering affected trainees free upskilling programs via NIIT and UpGrad, along with a 12-week Business Process Management (BPM) training program for alternative career opportunities.
  • Trainees opting out of upskilling programs are provided transport to Bangalore and travel allowances to return to their hometowns.
