Infonavit Cuts Credit Hurdles, Unveils Fixed-Rate Repair Loans for Low-Income Workers

Overview

  • Infonavit slashed eligibility criteria from 10 to 5 and lowered its points requirement from 1,000 to 100 to streamline mortgage approval for workers earning one to two minimum wages.
  • The Mejoravit Solo para Ti program offers home-repair loans ranging from 10,318 to 163,030 pesos with fixed annual rates of 10% on amounts up to 41,273.47 pesos and 11% on larger loans.
  • The agency raised its six-year housing target from 500,000 to 1.2 million units, has 4,387 homes in its 2025 delivery pipeline and projects 250,000 completions in 2026.
  • Abusive past credits are being frozen in regions such as Quintana Roo, where 166,000 loans were halted, and more than 26,000 workers have received rate reductions and payment adjustments.
