Overview
- The coordinated police action, which took place Wednesday, June 3, executed 51 judicial warrants — 21 arrest orders and 30 search-and-seizure or precautionary measures — and led to at least nine people being detained in Maceió, Marechal Deodoro and in the state of Rio de Janeiro.
- Authorities detained Patrick Almeida, known as PTK, and seized R$20,000 in cash, two iPhones, two gold rings and a pendrive from him, according to the state security secretariat.
- Police allege the Comando Vermelho leadership in Alagoas, led by a figure identified as Nem Catenga, sought to field or back local candidates and picked PTK to represent the faction in past municipal politics, an allegation supported by an audio released by investigators.
- The investigation was led by DRACCO with support from the Rotam battalion, the SSP-AL intelligence office and Rio de Janeiro police under Project Captura, and the 17ª Vara Criminal issued the warrants citing technical evidence gathered during the probe.
- The probe and judicial process are ongoing and police say the operation aims to disrupt the gang’s push for political footholds; PTK’s legal defense had not been reached in initial reports and the case could prompt tighter scrutiny of political links to organized crime.
