Inflation and transition strain British royal finances as King commits to sustainability

Buckingham Palace and other royal homes have turned down the heating to cut emissions.
Expenditure for the royal household has increased due to Queen Elizabeth II's funeral, King Charles III's coronation, and refurbishing Buckingham Palace.
The annual Sovereign Grant report revealed 1.6 million pounds were spent on the Queen's funeral and royal spending rose 5% to 107.5 million pounds.
The proportion of ethnic minority employees in the royal household remained at 9.7%, missing its target of 10% for 2022.
The high costs come amid a loss of 6.5% in the value of the Crown Estate, which funds the Sovereign Grant.
