The bomb was safely identified as inert by authorities, leading to the reopening of nearby roads.

  • The bomb, identified as a Mark 65 ordnance, was found near the Brooksville-Tampa Bay Regional Airport, a site of a former World War II military airfield.
  • Authorities evacuated an area of about half a mile in all directions and temporarily closed roads as a precaution.
  • The Citrus County Sheriff's Office bomb squad determined the bomb to be inert, and a team from MacDill Air Force Base in Tampa was sent to dispose of it.
