INEGI Survey Finds High Life Satisfaction in Urban Mexico as Security Scores Lowest

  • Urban adults rated their overall life satisfaction at 8.6 out of 10 in INEGI’s BIARE Básico with data through June 10, 2025.
  • Security was the weakest domain at 6.2 out of 10, and 23.1% of respondents reported dissatisfaction with public safety.
  • Top-scoring areas included freedom to make life decisions (9.1), housing (8.9), family relationships (8.8) and main activity (8.8).
  • Environmental quality (7.2), the country’s situation (7.5), city conditions (7.7), free time and physical health trailed the overall satisfaction score.
  • The affective balance averaged 5.4, with men reporting higher positive affect than women (5.7 vs. 5.2) and young women 18–29 showing the lowest balance at 4.6.
