Overview
- INEGI published the 2026 UMA values: 117.31 pesos per day, 3,566.22 pesos per month and 42,794.64 pesos per year.
- The new figures, confirmed by INEGI president Graciela Márquez Colín, take effect on February 1, when public and financial systems switch to the updated unit.
- By statute, the UMA is adjusted using December’s year-over-year INPC inflation, which was 3.69% in 2025, preserving the unit’s real value.
- In Mexico City, traffic fines tied to UMA rise in peso terms, including 40–60 UMAs for invading exclusive lanes (about 4,692–7,038 pesos) and 20–40 UMAs for driving without insurance (about 2,346–4,692 pesos).
- Beyond traffic, increases apply to verification fees, migration penalties, labor sanctions that range from 50 to 5,000 UMAs, and credit calculations at institutions such as Infonavit and Fovissste.
