INE Sets MXN 3,948,471,536 Estimate for 2027 Operating Budget

Using SHCP precriteria on 3% inflation and an MXN 18.60/USD rate, the temporary commission produced a base operating figure while leaving payroll, projects and party funding to be added later under the INE schedule.

Overview

  • The INE’s Temporary Budget Commission approved a MXN 3,948,471,536 estimate for the 2027 operating budget in a virtual session on Friday, June 5.
  • The estimate covers budget chapters 2000–6000 and splits into MXN 2,380,841,144 for Central Offices and MXN 1,567,630,392 for Local and District Executive Boards.
  • Commission members said the figure was derived from a methodological review of 2023–2025 historical spending, the application of inflation indices and existing multiannual commitments.
  • Key cost items are excluded from this base total: Personnel Services (payroll), the Institutional Project Portfolio (including election organization costs), party prerogatives and a precautionary budget, all of which will be integrated later according to the commission’s timetable.
  • The commission framed the estimate as a reference to ensure ordinary 2027 operations under principles of rationality and austerity, and its next steps are to set amounts for payroll, projects and party funding that will materially change the final budget request.
