INE Finalizes 28.8 Million-Peso Fines for Improper Party Affiliations

The decision followed a multi‑year review of 917 complaints, with penalties reduced after withdrawals and verification.

  • Morena faces the largest penalty at 15,696,138.48 pesos for 135 improper affiliations, followed by PRI (5,588,840.52 for 51 cases), PVEM (5,254,907.68 for 52), PT (1,788,388.43 for 16) and MC (506,573.44 for 6).
  • PAN received no sanction after no complaints were accredited against it in this proceeding.
  • The investigations covered actions from 2021 to 2025, with no affectation found in 546 matters and infractions confirmed in 259 cases.
  • The INE also authorized the destruction and recycling of ballots, voter lists and unused materials from the first Judicial Election in coordination with CONALITEG.
  • Movimiento Ciudadano was publicly admonished for parity-reporting omissions, adding to a 1 million–peso fine confirmed last week by the Electoral Tribunal, and the INE reviewed 33 observer groups, issuing only public admonitions to 21 that failed to report.
